LED Neon Sign FAQ: Care, Power, RGB, Repair and Shipping

Answers about leaving a sign on, dimmers, RGB, cleaning, repairs, sizes, mounting, payment, shipping and rental. Short answers on price, timing, logo signs, outdoor use and lifespan are on the neon sign maker page.

Yes. LED neon is made for long hours of use: it barely heats up and uses 5-9 W per metre of neon line, so a sign that stays on overnight costs little to run. It is rated for 30,000-50,000 hours of light (around 8-10 years), and every hour it is on counts towards that. If you want it to switch off by itself, plug it into a timer or a smart plug. More about how long LED neon signs last.

Yes, with a dimmer. It comes with a small remote that changes the brightness, turns the sign on and off and adds modes such as blinking or pulsing. It does not change the colour. Every RGB sign and every sign in the All Inclusive package comes with a dimmer. For other signs you can order one in our online shop.

Yes. An RGB sign can show around 16 million colours, and the whole sign glows in one colour at a time, which you change with the remote or a phone app. It costs twice as much as a single-colour sign and takes about 10 working days longer to make. Switched off, it looks white. Several fixed colours cost nothing extra: each word or letter can have its own colour from our 11-colour palette. You can try colours in the neon sign maker.

Glass neon is made of hand-bent glass tubes filled with gas and needs high voltage. LED neon has LEDs inside a flexible strip that glows evenly, so it looks much the same but runs on low voltage, barely heats up and contains no gas or mercury. It is also lighter, harder to break and needs almost no maintenance. We make LED neon signs only. Read the full comparison of LED neon and traditional neon.

Switch the sign off and unplug it, then wipe the neon and the backing with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth. Strong cleaners and solvents can cloud the acrylic, so leave them out. Keep an indoor sign away from water and steam, and do not bend the neon. A light dusting every couple of weeks keeps it bright. More tips in our guide on how to care for LED neon signs.

Usually yes. Most faults are in the power supply or the dimmer, not in the neon itself. Disconnect the dimmer and plug the sign straight into its power supply: if it now works, the dimmer is the cause. Send us a short video and we will tell you which part to replace, so the sign itself rarely has to travel. Faults not caused by damage are covered by the warranty: 2 years as standard, up to 5 years with the All Inclusive Plus package. Contact us.

Measure the wall or window first and think about how far away people will read the sign. We have no fixed sizes: every sign is made to your measurements. Letters should be at least 4.5 cm high, or 7 cm for block letters, to stay easy to read. The size we quote is the whole sign including the acrylic backing. Try different sizes in the neon sign maker, and see our guide on where to place a neon sign.

Every sign comes with a power supply and an EU plug, so you simply plug it into a socket. If you want the cable hidden, your electrician can connect the sign to the wall wiring instead. One mounting kit is included free: stand-offs for the wall or a cable kit for hanging the sign from a ceiling or in a window. One person can mount a sign, and we send a video guide. Installation by our team comes with the All Inclusive package.

Original is our premium technology. The light is even along the whole line, the parts are glued and capped, the wires are hidden on the back, and lines can be thinner for fine details. Economy costs less, but the light can be dimmer at letter ends and wires may show on the front. The warranty is 2 years for Original and 1 year for Economy. With the moisture protection option (+25 %), Original is protected up to IP67 and Economy up to IP65. Full comparison: Original vs Economy.

You pay by invoice. As standard you pay 70 % to start the technical mock-up and production, and the remaining 30 % once the sign is ready and we have sent you a photo of it lit up. You can also pay the full amount at once. Companies get an invoice with their company details, and EU companies with a valid VAT number pay 0 % VAT (reverse charge). For orders from 100 € you can pay in instalments with ESTO.

We ship across Europe by courier to your door. Delivery within the Baltics (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia) is free and takes 1-3 working days after production; other European countries take 2-5 working days. Outside the EU we calculate shipping for your exact address, and the recipient pays customs duties and taxes. Signs longer than 2.5 m are made in parts, and their delivery is quoted separately. Send your design from the neon sign maker to get a price with delivery.

Yes, either way. A custom sign takes 10-15 working days to make, or from 5 working days with express production, so order it in good time. For a one-off event renting is often cheaper: in Latvia we rent ready-made signs such as Happy Birthday from 40 € + VAT for up to 3 days, plus a refundable deposit. Rental signs are not shipped. You pick the sign up and bring it back, and we need your booking at least a day ahead. Contact us to check dates.
